Square Watermelons - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/1390088.stm
^^ "Each melon sells for 10,000 yen, equivalent to about USD$83. It is almost double, or even triple, that of a normal watermelon." So that means that typical watermelons are around USD$28-42 each. They're actually more like $100 (square watermelons).

USD$60 for that batch of strawberries. Not too outrageous... I was in Kyoto's Nishiki Market and picked up some strawberries for my coworkers... USD$25 for 2 strawberries.

Mmm...USD$1,300 for 2 melons.

I've purchased a square watermelon once to be shared with coworkers... it's kinda weird to eat with the rind so you eat it in cubes. Tastes the same... just better to store and people will know it's expensive.
